How we rebuilt Leah the Celebrant’s website

The client
Leah Foley is an independent celebrant based in Southend-on-Sea, Essex. She leads funerals and memorials, scattering of ashes, weddings, vow renewals and naming ceremonies, writing every ceremony around the people at the heart of it. She’s been a celebrant since 2020, is NOCN Level 3 qualified and a member of The Celebrant Accord.
The challenge
Leah’s old website was built on Wix and had started to show its age:
- Every ceremony was squeezed onto one Services page, so families couldn’t quickly find what they needed.
- A COVID notice was still up, and the footer said © 2021.
- There were typos, a broken Terms link and no email address.
- Google mostly saw her as a funeral celebrant, so she was missing people searching for weddings and naming ceremonies.
What we built
We designed and built a brand-new website from scratch, around Leah’s own photos and the warm, personal way she works.
- A page for every ceremony: funerals, ashes, weddings, vow renewals and namings, each with its own story, photos and FAQs.
- An elegant, personal design: a classic serif paired with a clean sans-serif, an ivory “paper” palette and her photos colour-graded to match.
- Phone-first: tested on real iPhones, with the headline, photo and buttons all on the first screen.
- Easy to get in touch: “Arrange a chat” and call buttons on every page, and an enquiry form with a custom date picker that sends straight to Leah on WhatsApp.
- 36 kind words from families and couples, with filters so visitors can read reviews for their type of ceremony.

Behind the scenes
- Moved the website off Wix onto fast, secure hosting with Cloudflare.
- Moved the domain across to Cloudflare and set it up securely.
- Wrote new page titles and descriptions so Leah shows up for weddings and namings, not just funerals.
- Added local business information so Google knows who Leah is and where she works.
- Set up a sitemap so Google can find every page.
The results
We tested the new website with Lighthouse, Google’s own website test, on a mobile:
Lighthouse mobile test, October 2026. Plus 11 pages built and 36 client reviews added.
